Dedicated to the memory of Lynne Cowell

Free Spirit: a person who thinks and acts in an uninhibited way without worrying about normal social rules.

Lynne was never very fond of funerals, weddings, formal events or anything that required her to conform with social norms.
She was happiest having a casual cuppa and a chat with her friends or enjoying a nice Sunday lunch at the pub. She had mastered the art of an organic and happy life.

With this in mind, we know she wouldn’t want anyone to have to endure a stuffy and formal funeral in her honour. As a family, we also didn’t want to go through the formality of having a stranger talk about how much she meant to each of us. We know it already as there was nothing left unsaid between us all.

Instead, if you choose to, you can visit her and pay your respects on your own terms, whenever and however that suits you. She will be laid at the chapel of rest in Dalston and anyone is welcome to arrange a visit anytime from Monday 2nd August until Thursday 5th August. Call the chapel on 01228 317373 for access. Spend your own time with her and say goodbye in your own way.

All we ask is that you leave a memory, memento, or positive message with her which she will be cremated with. Please do not worry about flowers. If you wish, make a donation to Hospice at Home and/ or Eden Valley Hospice in Lynne’s honour. Both were amazing in the way they supported her and the family over the past few months.  There is donate button on here.

Dalston held a special place in her heart, it is where she went to school, raised her children and met her soul mate. We all have very fond and happy memories in this village and she would encourage you to take a walk and think about her amongst that happy and familiar environment.  If you are unable to pay your respects in person please feel free to email the chapel (dalstonchapelofrest@gmail.com) with messages, photos etc and they will print these out for you and place them with Lynne.

Once her ashes are returned to Longburn, which was her “forever” home, we would like to welcome you all for a gathering at the farm to celebrate all things Lynne. We will be sending details nearer the time which will be once her dream renovation project has ended.

Lynne was loved like no other and she also loved her life. She didn’t have time for negativity and was a permanent source of joy and happiness to her close circle of friends and family. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
